Advanced Architectural Construction

Project 1: Idustrialised Building System

Being grouped in teams of 5,  we were tasked with not only diving deeper into the world of IBS, but to also create a and design a 3-storey apartment block using mainly IBS components.

Being tasked with this project gave a deeper insight into the more calculative aspects of architecture. By being presented with the project of creating a fully “form-follows function” building rather than 100% focusing on the building’s facade, it allowed my team and I to have a clearer vision of practical building design. Personally, this project has improved my Revit skills as well as my knowledge of materiality and structure. As a group, we all gained the improvement of communication and effective scheduling in terms of our work and problem solving together.

Project 11: Construction Solutions

For this second project (individual), we were tasked to create different facades for our respective studio projects, and to analyse and research different facade, roof and flooring systems to assist us in this

The outcome of the project is satisfactory in my eyes as it has allowed me to gain a better insight into different construction systems and on how to be more investigative into such components.

My tutor, Mr Jan, has lead me and the other students of his tutorial well with these two projects, allowing us to gather more info and see construction from a more intricate perspective.
